KUCKU is bringing Contemporary art of all disiplines to the Local audience in Loviisa trough the KUCKU FESTIVAL, exhibitions, performances, workshops and other art events. Kucku is the collaboration between Loviisa Contemporary r.y. and Stödföreningen för Lovisa konst r.f.
Kucku Stone is a observation tower in Myllyharju forest in Loviisa, designed by the architect K. Hjelt and often described as one of the most beautiful in Finland.
In addition, “kucku” is the call of the cuckoo bird, with which it announces its territory and which, in earlier times, was associated with many different folk beliefs and superstitions.
Kucku can also mean that someone or something is a little odd, quirky, or slightly eccentric; you might say that someone is “a bit kucku.” By framing our art under the name of Kucku we embrace our right to enjoy stepping out of the box to create something new.

Stödföreningen för Lovisa konst rf, (Loviisan taiteen tukiyhdistys) is the association behind KUCKU RESIDENCE. We arrange exhibitions and culture events. Our goal is to enrich the art- and culture life in Loviisa by organising interesting and diverse exhibitions and art and culture events. LOVIISA CONTEMPORARY RY. is a organisation for professional ontemporary artists in Loviisa. The association works to create and strengthen opportunities for local artists and cultural practitioners across disciplines, collaborates with other arts organizations and networks, supports the professional development and shared interests of its members, and fosters new encounters, events, practices, and audiences for contemporary art.
KUCKU RESIDENCE
Art in Lov Residence is an artist’s recidency in Loviisa, Finland. The distinctive thing about the residency is our focus on collaboration with local partners, opportunity for participation, local activities and art in public spaces. Artists are invited both through open calls and as curated invitations.
KUCKU FESTIVAL is the best (and only) art biennale in Loviisa. The festival was initiated by Loviisa Contemporary and is today organized in collaboration with Stödföreningen för Lovisa konst.

KUCKU CLUBS are live talk shows or concerts with professional musicians. The club evenings are held roughly once a month. They usually take place in Lovisa’s old sausage factory and are open to everyone, with free admission.
