How does a film that is always repeated exactly the same way change when combined with improvised music born right in that moment? Where is the line between rest, entertainment, and exploration or politics, or does it even exist?
KuckuKINO is Kucku University’s very own small film series that combines entertainment with social commentary. Friday night’s silent film with improvised live music is a unique experience that can rarely be witnessed in Finland.

AGE RECOMMENDATION: suitable for all ages
ACCESSIBILITY: Kino Marilyn is wheelchair accessible through the back door, which staff will open upon request. There is a ramp and a stairlift in the courtyard, but the ramp is quite steep. Wheelchairs can move around freely in the auditorium. The cinema has an accessible toilet.

on festival Saturday, restaurant Sakura sells lunch to the cinema audience,

KuckuKINO is curated by Loviisa-based musician and composer Kalle Katz. Kalle is a versatile pianist who is equally at home as a theatre musician, in bands, and as a soloist. His music has been heard on the stages of the Lahti and Kuopio City Theatres, the National Theatre, and the Loviisa Theatre, among others. He feels most at home in the field of improvisation.
